They say the camera never lies. But on this show, you can't trust anything you see.
Stranded in the Welsh mountains, seven reality show contestants have no idea what they've signed up for.
Each of these strangers has a secret. If another player can guess the truth, they won't just be eliminated—they'll be exposed live on air. The stakes are higher than they'd ever imagined, and they're trapped.
The disappearance of a contestant wasn't supposed to be part of the drama. Detective Ffion Morgan has to put aside what she's watched on screen, and find out who these people really are—knowing she can't trust any of them.
And when a murderer strikes, Ffion knows every one of her suspects has an alibi . . . and a secret worth killing for.

Mackintosh's second installment in the "DC Morgan" series (following The Last Party) takes listeners to the set of a new reality show in the mountains of Wales. Each contestant has been chosen because they have a life-changing secret. The winner of the contest will reveal the secrets of the others while protecting their own. With a 100,000 prize on offer, tensions run high. Unbeknownst to the contestants, the producer has engineered a preplanned outcome, using editing tricks and whispered rumors spread by his minions to achieve his goal. The ratings for the first episode are off the charts, but then a contestant disappears, and rebel DC Ffion Morgan is dispatched to find him. Soon after, the show's producer is murdered. Each contestant and everyone else on site seems to have an alibi, but Morgan is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. Mackintosh creates a complex thriller that reveals the unreality of reality shows and the dangers that abound in keeping secrets. Chloe Angharad Davies narrates well, offering captivating Welsh accents and a range of tailored character voices. VERDICT A twisty thriller for fans of Blair Braverman's Small Game.--Joanna M. Burkhardt
